We call on the Parliament to establish a Royal Commission of Inquiry into:

The health, social, economic, and law enforcement costs of the Drug Prohibition.

The laws do not stop people from using drugs or protect families. After 50 years of harsh enforcement, illicit drugs are more available than ever.

  • I am 59 and a retired engineer. Drugs need to be legal and taxed. I am sick and tired of violent “drug lords”, “bikie gangs” and “scum bags” making money of drugs when the government can make clean drugs of a known dosage available and earn tax on the sale of these drugs. I am sick of the crime related to pushing drugs into the black market. WAKE UP, certain people are going to use drugs and NO law has ever, or will ever stop that. OZ needs to move on

  • In 1983 they branded me a drug addict for life over some lousy cannabis plants. Now they give me a script for it. They ruined my whole entire adult life for something I can just go and buy now? The drug laws are 100% counter-productive. The law allows the government to invade your home and that’s just not right.

    Harm reduction, education, and people making informed decisions would impact many people positively.

    Lots of young people take illicit drugs just as an act of rebellion, and the spiral of addiction is begun.

    It is time for a new set of views, take note of what decriminalisation has achieved overseas.

    Drug use has been demonised by hypocritical governments, and a decades long scare tactic campaign aimed at users. The cost of trying to police and prosecute low level users could be used for treatment, support and rehabilitation.
